Selling with us
Should you wish to sell with Barry L Hawkins, whether a single item or an entire house content, the first step is to receive an auction estimate. These are free of charge with no obligation to consign.
Our regular sales are held on a Wednesday every three weeks throughout the year and conducted with live online bidding platforms as well as bidding in person or via telephone bids.
These Antique & Collectable auctions include Furniture: Carpets & Rugs, Paintings & Prints, China, Glass, Metal wares, Treen, Miscellaneous, Clocks & Barometers, Lighting, Coins, Gold, Jewellery, Silver & Plated Items, Toys, Books & Ephemera, Outside Items, etc.
We hold Specialist sections of Sporting goods, Textiles and Wines, Ports & Spirits,
We also conduct Single Owner/Collection sales, either at our Auction Rooms or onsite where appropriate.
Step 1:
Free Valuation
The initial step is to acquire an auction estimate, which is provided as a courtesy and does not entail any obligation to consign.
If possible, please send us an email with a detailed description and good quality images of the items to info@barryhawkins.co.uk
If you prefer to talk to one of our valuers, you can contact them directly. Alternatively, if you are unsure which specialist you need to speak to, you can request a call-back by contacting us on 01366 387180.
For larger collections or a potential house clearance, we may be able to arrange for one of our valuers to visit you free of charge, to provide informal identification, valuation, and sales advice. Please contact info@barryhawkins.co.uk or call 01366 387180 to arrange a visit.
Step 2:
The Sale Process
We channel items into the most appropriate sale context, which will often mean your items may be allocated to more than one specialist sale to maximise the value of each item. Prior to each sale you will receive a pre-sale report by email or post. This will detail all your lots together with estimates and any agreed reserves. Clients are very welcome to attend sales or can watch live online using our bidding platform.
Commission & Charges
We will charge you a commission on the sale of the Goods calculated as at 17.5% plus VAT percentage of the Hammer Price with a lotting fee of £1 per lot, unless we agree with you otherwise. There is a minimum commission charge of £2.00 plus VAT per lot.
All items are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy whilst on our premises, at mid-auction estimate. There is no additional charge for this service.
Step 3:
Post-Sale: Getting Paid
After each sale you will receive via email a post-sale statement detailing the hammer prices and fees. The net proceeds will be paid by bank transfer within 21 days from the date of the auction.
Any items which are unsold will usually be re-offered in a timed online auction over the weekend after the auction date. If they fail to sell in the timed auction, we will offer them into our next live auction date at a reduced estimate in a later sale or may be returned to the client if they prefer.
