We continue with the family business holding regular auctions throughout the year at our historic Downham Market Auction Rooms based in West Norfolk selling live on-line via

We are also specialist auctioneers of farm machinery, plant and equipment conducting sales either on the farm, business site or remove items to one of our regular collective machinery sales with the ability to sell live online via www.i-bidder.com. & www.bidspotter.co.uk

Please note due to COVID-19 the sales now will be held online only, any consignments or collections are by appointment only. Please contact us to arrange an appointment 

Please note that viewing times for our regular auctions at the Downham Market Auction Rooms  are every Saturday and Tuesday before each sale : 

  • Saturday - 10am to 1pm 

  • Tuesday - midday to 6pm

  • Wednesday - 8am to 10am 

Please note that on sale days we are not able to provide parking but there is parking within 5 minutes walk on Paradise Road

We are not able to accept consignment of goods on the week of a sale, so please ensure you arrange any consignments outside of this time.

In light of the continuing COVID-19 developments, we want to let you know that Barry L Hawkins is continuing to operate behind the scenes and within government guidelines. We continue to provide clients with property &  professional advice plus we can provide valuation services that can be dealt with remotely.  

The auction scheduled to be held on Wednesday 13 May @ 10am will be going ahead but, in a new virtual format as follows:

  • Auction held live online only - We will be conducting the auction online only via www.the-saleroom.com please link to the sale.  Sorry but, as much as we love seeing you, no bidders will be allowed to enter the auction rooms.
     

  • Commission Bids - you can place commission bids prior to the date of the sale via email please note that none will be taken on the sale day. Commission Bids will be executed free of charge but only upon receipt of written instructions. All commission bids are accepted only at senders risk and no refunds or allowances shall be made to senders in respect of any error in description, lot number or maximum bid made by the sender
     

  • Viewing Remotely -  Items for sale may now only be viewed remotely, we are increasing the number of photos per lot and, upon request we are able to provide remote viewing via video calls (Facetime or Zoom) as a replacement for physical viewings time. Please email the office to arrange a suitable time prior to the sale.
     

  • Payment - we are accepting payment via bank transfer or card payment over the telephone only.
     

  • Contactless delivery -  We are able to offer a packaging and postal service (at cost) on the small items but we recommend you consider using our preferred couriers. Hark Solutions, Jentel Packaging or Mailbox etc (Cambridge). Please refer to our website for their contact details. Please note that any collection are by appointment only 
     

  • Storage - We will provide free storage for purchased and paid for items ONLY until movement restrictions are relaxed. Storage charges will apply for all unpaid items in the normal way. We can also provide an in-house shipping service for small and unbreakable items.
