Downham Market Auction Rooms
The Downham Market Auction Rooms is a historic converted building original design for holding horse auctions in the 1850's but we have modernised the facilities to give us flexibility with collection, storage and delivery. We sell a wide selection of items to include good modern, collectables, Antiques, Sporting items, Wines, Toys etc. Here, our valuers have the opportunity to take in items in advance of sale, in order to conduct considerable research and pre-sale advertising where required.

The Sales - We conduct regular sales a year, to include Selected Antiques, Antique & Generals, Pictures, Toys, Wines & Sporting sales, we can also hold single owner/collection sales where appropriate, either at our salerooms or onsite. Advertising - All sales are advertised locally and worldwide. All auctions fully catalogued and are sent out to our extensive mailing list. Fully illustrated online catalogue. "Live" internet bidding is available for specialist sales.

We now offer live online bidding through www.the-saleroom.com Once your registration and payment details are complete you can enjoy bidding online from any device. If you win, we will notify you via email and take payment by card or bank transfer. You can also leave an advance bid (commission bid) before the auction starts. Just enter the maximum amount you’re willing to pay and the system will enter the next increment on your behalf. We prefer to see the whites of your eyes so why not join us in the auction rooms here in Downham Market.
Collecting your purchases
If you are successful in winning a lot, you have until the Friday after the auction sale to pay and collect your lots. However if you live out of the area and require shipment or postage then our in-house packers Jentel Packing will be happy to provide you with a quote for your lots.

At your liability, we can offer a limited fully tracked postage & packing service within mainland UK and Europe. The service we use is Special Delivery (max. weight 2kilos) or DPD. Our standard mainland UK charge is £18 for up to 3 lots, and £1.50 per lot thereafter, regardless of weight (max.30kg). Some exclusions apply for larger lots such as dinner services and breakable items such as vases and glassware, please contact our offices for a quote with regards to larger or bulkier lots.
For Jewelery & Watches and Coins & Banknotes auctions only, we offer a reduced Special Delivery charge of £10 per parcel regardless of the amount of lots.
All parcels over 2 kg will only be sent by DPD, with standard cover of £100. If purchasers require further cover, then they must arrange this themselves. Barry L Hawkins accept no liability for items which are damaged or lost during postage. Please give clear instructions when settling your account as to your shipping requirements so that we can process full payment and ship within 10 working days of the date of the sale.
You can simply add the postage amount to your bank transfer or card payment.
