ABOUT

The Hawkins family firm was established in the 1850s by Charles Hawkins who was Barry Hawkins Great Grandfather. In January 1986 Barry recognised the need for an independent firm with local knowledge who could cater for the local community and BARRY L HAWKINS was established. From that time Barry L Hawkins has offered the Professional Services of Auctioneer, Land Agent and Valuer providing a Confidential Service to Private Clients, Farming & Agricultural  Executors and Solicitors including:

  • Agency and Management : Sale, Purchase, Valuation and Letting of Farms, Estates, Houses, Commercial Premises and Land.

  • Valuations and Taxation : Advice and Valuation for Taxation and Finance, Capital Gains Tax, Income and Corporation Tax and Inheritance Tax. Assets and Insurance Valuations.

  • Scheme Applications and Advice : Single Payment Scheme and other RPA Matters

  • Agriculture : Stocktaking Valuations, Livestock Machinery and Equipment Auctions, Contract Farming Arrangements, Grazing Licences

  • Landlord and Tenant Matters : Agricultural Tenancies (under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 and the Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 (FBTs), Commercial and Residential Lettings.

  • Compulsory Purchase and Other Compensation Claims: Including Water and Gas Pipelines, Electricity wayleaves and Road Schemes.

  • Telecommunications Masts and Renewable Energy : Advice on sites and Agreements.

  • Arbitration and Dispute Resolution : Dispute Settlements and Mediation.

  • Antique Furniture and Collectables : Sales at our Auction Rooms in Downham Market or House Sales on Site, Valuations for Insurance, Probate or Sale.

  • House Clearance Service

  • Machinery & Property Auctions: we hold regular collective machinery sales at Hilgay and Weeting but provide a full disposal auction service on site for clients

  • Letting of Residential Properties : We do not charge prospective Tenants any fees - we require References, (Financial and Personal) a Month's Rent as Deposit (this is held by the Deposit Protection Service) and a month's rent in advance.

Kingsley Delph

Valuer - Auction Rooms Manager

Kingsley is an experienced valuer, he is responsible for the day to day management of the sale with a strong knowledge of many collectables.

He carries out all aspects of valuation of items to be included in our sales from advising on probate valuations to house clearance to valuation of individual items. He provideshis clients with clear concise practical advice and prompt responses to their questions throughout West Norfolk.

Marcus J Hawkins B.Sc (Hons)

Auctioneer, Valuer, Land Agent & Surveyor

Marcus has over 18 years experience as a general practice surveyor working for international institutions as well as private clients throughout the UK managing large portfolios of property in the UK and Europe.

Richard Baker (FRICS) | Consultant

Independent Surveyor & Valuer

Richard Baker is an independent surveyor acting as a consultant to Barry L Hawkins, he  has 30 years experience in the residential, agricultural and commercial sector.

He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in Cambridgeshire back in 1979 and after spending some time working in Gloucestershire, returned to Cambridgeshire 20 years ago and set up his own private practice based in Hilton.

Richard carries out all types of survey and valuation work, together with associated professional work in the residential, commercial and agricultural sectors. The practice covers a large area of Cambridgeshire, as well as neighbouring parts of Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire and prides itself on prompt, professional and personal service.
